Using the textile Forum southwest Discussion pages.

Textile Forum South West welcomes discussion on any theme connected with textiles and related subjects by its members. Discussion forums work by allowing users to post individual questions or comments to start a discussion, other users can then post their views or information in response.   These ÔrepliesÕ are organised in to a ÔthreadÕ.

The forums are organised in to areas for each sub groups as well as a general section.  Please try and keep your posts in the right section.

Logging in

To Log in you must have a valid user name and password. If you have forgotten your password you should contact Christine Yates, Membership Secretary via email - info@fiberartgallery.com You must enter the correct username and password and agree to the terms and conditions by checking the box below the disclaimer.

If you do not check this box you will not be allowed to enter the forum.

The main forum page

Once logged in you can select any discussion from the list on the front page.Remember you can read and post to any of these discussions not just to your group. Active and vibrant discussions rely on your participation.

Reading a post

Once you have a selected an area you will be shown a list of the active discussions.  The image below shows the General Discussions, Postings and News Section. It shows a discussion Ð denoted by the little icon to the left, the title of the discussion, who posted it and when they posted. The most recent post will be shown at the top of the page. Clicking the title allows you to view the discussion. The whole of the post to the discussion is presented at the top of the page. Below the post is a complete thread for the discussion. Clicking any title here will allow you to read that post in the thread. If you would like to post a response to the post displayed you can click Post Reply.

 

 

Posting a Reply

When you click Post Reply you will get a screen similar to the one above.  The section and topic you have chosen to reply to will all be selected and displayed in the relevant boxes.  A copy of the post you are replying to is already copied to the reply box marked with >>. 

It is often useful to leave the text in your reply so that people can get a feeling for the thread they are reading without having to jump through posts but this can often leave a lot of text before your answer so it is up to you how much text you leave in.  Simply highlight what you donÕt want and delete it.

Attach Signature adds your details to the bottom of the post and checking Email Notification sets the system to email you every time someone replies to your post.

Click Preview to read through what you have written as it would be displayed or simply click OK to post your reply.

 

Starting a Discussion

If you want to start a discussion thread you can do so by clicking the Start a new discussion link on any of the discussion pages. A page very similar to the reply page is displayed. You must make sure you are posting to the right category by selecting it from the drop down menu.  By default it will display the name of the category you have just come from. Add a Subject for your post and the text of the message.

Click Preview to read through what you have written as it would be displayed or simply click OK to post your message and start a new discussion.
